About the artist:

she/her

Sara K Dunn is multimedia artist, budding mycologist, and informal historical researcher.  Her art practice is filtered through the lens of my Queer, Neurodivergent, and Ecofeminist identities. The natural world has been her primary muse, and in more recent years, she has looked to both human and more-than-human inhabitants to learn from and depict their experiences to draw parallels between them all.

Her aim with her art practice is to wonder at how interconnected everything on this earth is, and how human connections and communal care echo these natural structures. To be aware of the current events that grip our reality is essential, and to ignore them does a disservice to us all. In this vein, she gathers inspiration from both the world around me and deep within herself, then distill her perceptions into her artworks through a myriad of mediums.

Her visual language is varied in method and materials but has a connecting thread through color and detail. She specializes in illustration, printmaking, painting, and design with more recent explorations in sculpture, installation art, and performance. She pulls inspiration from historical artistic practices and subject matters and applies them to contemporary subjects and concepts. Both antiquated and of this time, her work blends time periods, and ways of living.
