Introduction to Stop Motion Animation:
Age: 12- 17 years old

During this taster workshop participants will build skills to create a stop motion animation using charcoal drawings. The workshop will begin exploring examples of stop motion and story boards. Participants are encouraged to bring sketch books/ drawings / photos that they find inspiring. Each participant will have their own workspace that includes materials paper, charcoal and animation phone stand. Through a process of drawing, photographing, erasing and redrawing images will come to life. Alternative methods of movement will be explored like cutting out paper characters. This workshop also looks at the process of adding sound to animation. Stop motion animation is a fun tool of expression. Come along and learn drawing, photography and editing to create your own animations.

Each participant uses a smart phone as a camera with a special animation editing app to develop animations.]
Who is the facilitator:
Brigid Mulligan is an award-winning visual artist from county Longford. Brigid works in multi-media, she enjoys creating stop motion animation in charcoal. Brigid holds a master’s in creative Practice & First-Class Honours Degree in Fine art Sculpture from ATU Galway. In 2020 she packed in the day job as a chef to focus all her energy on her artistic practice. Since then, she has exhibited nationally & internationally while also receiving artist awards & residencies.
